WELCOME TO OROVILLE’S 70’S SHOW
OROVILLE CA – APRIL 4, 2012 – The Oroville City Council on April 3, 2012, approved a twenty-year lease with local company Binderup Investments, Inc. to erect a new “Welcome to Oroville” gateway sign with a Video Display billboard/message center. The digital sign will replace the current welcome sign at the intersection of Highway 70 and Georgia Pacific Road.
The City has been working on the digital sign project for over a year, and the sign will be the first digital sign on Highway 70 in Northern California. In addition to commercial advertisement the sign will promote special events for the City of Oroville and issue Amber Alerts in cases of emergency.
Mayor Linda Dahlmeier stated, “The new gateway sign on Highway 70 will respect the historic image of our community, yet demonstrate to all the special qualities that allow people to Live Work and Play all in a day in Oroville. “
Douglas Binderup, President of Binderup Investments, Inc. says, “This is a unique opportunity for the City of Oroville, and I applaud the city for their enterprising spirit. This sign is truly a win-win situation, where in addition to giving local businesses the opportunity to advertise in a state-of-the-art format, it will also boost the local economy and provide the City of Oroville with a steady stream of revenue.”
Construction on the new digital sign could begin as early as May, and will take between 3-4 months to complete.
G. Harold Duffey, City Administrator stated, “I am pleased that the City’s plan to have an impressive gateway sign has come to fruition. I am also honored that Binderup and Associates has partnered wit the City and the Business community to invest over $400,000 on this exciting project.
