CDBG 2012 Notice of Funds for Public Service

Community Enhancements Coming Soon to Oroville...

  • The 2010-2011 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application was a success!  The City was recently awarded $151,800 from the 2010-2011 CDBG application designated to public services which will be provided by the local Boys & Girls Club.  CDBG funds will be used to support a job coaching and mentoring program; The Job Bridge Program; between the Boys and Girls Clubs, Oroville Teen Center and local businesses within the Oroville Community. These programs will provide youth with the opportunity to gain and build skills related to obtaining and sustaining employment. 
  • The City of Oroville was successful in their application for the 2009 Stewardship Council Infrastructure Grant, and has been awarded $61,000 from the Stewardship Council to carry out the construction of several youth basketball courts at various City Park destinations.   
  • The 2009-2010 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application was a success!  The City was recently awarded $60,000 from the 2009-2010 CDBG application designated to public services which will be provided by the local YMCA and Catalyst.  The local YMCA is receiving $30,000 of the CDBG grant award plus an additional $63,192 in CDBG Program Income funds for the STAR program to help low-income, at-risk youth such as educational activities during non-school hours.  Catalyst  is receiving $30,000 from the CDBG grant award plus an additional $70,000 in CDBG Program Income funds to provide a range of intervention and prevention services including providing service needs, directly to domestic violence victims and their children.
  • Ten park benches made out of recycled content materials will be placed in downtown Oroville.  The benches were purchased with $5,000 received from the City/County Payment Program through the State of California's Department of Conservation applied for by the City of Oroville.
  • Two brand new fire engines and related equipment were recently purchased for the City with $900,000 by way of successful submittal and subsequent award of the 2008/2009 Community Development Block Grant ($125,000 CDBG General Grant Allocation (10% Set-aside) component, paired with $775,000 from CDBG Program Income).  The new fire engines were much needed and are aiding our firefighters in better servicing our community.
  •  A fully equipped 2009 Ford Crown Vistoria Police Sedan is being purchased with $11,550 of USDA Rural Development Community Facilities grant funds and a match of $21,450 from the City Equipment Replacement fund.
  • 12 complete Structure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) sets, 16 Complete Wildland PPE, gloves and EMS Coats, plus enough EMS supplies and defibrillators to outfit all Emergency vehicles are being purchased with the 2010 Rural Development Community Facilities grant funds in the amount of $14,000 with match funds of $40,000 from the City Capital Equipment-Fire fund.
