General City Services/ Parks and Trees:

The responsibilities of the Department of General City Services include but are not limited to, maintaining and implementing street and traffic maintenance which includes shoulder work, parking lots, bridges, street lights, signs, and signals in addition to performing roadside weed abatement. Other responsibilities include the maintaining of sanitary sewers with approximately 85 miles of sanitary sewer line and 1,400 manholes and over 2,300 feet of force main. The City also maintains seven sewer lift stations and two flow meters in addition to maintaining control of the City’s storm water drainage system, preventing contamination, and flooding which can lead to property damage.

The Department of Parks and Trees Manages a wide range of human services helping to enrich the lives of those who live within our community. The Department, administers, manages and implements programs to maintain and beautify the City’s park lands and recreational facilities. It also offers leisure service programs to accommodate a variety of interests, ages, cultures and abilities. It also coordinates community special events, civic and cultural programs in addition to the planting and maintaining of park trees and street trees and the removal of diseased or dangerous trees.
