Mission Statement

The Planning Departments goal is to enhance the quality of life within the Oroville City Limits by improving, or maintaining the resident's expectations, providing proactive service to the general public and preparing for necessary growth.

Overview

      The Historical Advisory Board consists of seven members appointed by the City Council. The purpose of the Board is to promote preservation of historic structures and other historic resources within the City's Historical Preservation District. Board responsibilities include the following:

      Assist in preparation of an inventory of historic resources within the
         Historical Preservation District.

      Make recommendations to City Council regarding applications to place a
         structure or property on Oroville's local Historic Register list.

      Make recommendations to City Council regarding adoption of
         development standards to enhance and protect the historic nature of the
         Historical Preservation District.

      Subject to review and approval of City Council, prepare, promote, and
         conduct educational and interpretational materials and programs
         regarding historical properties within the Historical Preservation District.


Membership
      Larry Tracy is Chair of the Board. Other members are Cynthia Brodie, Freda Flint, JoAnn Grover, Robert Jackson, and Patricia Young.

Member Eligibility
      Members of the Board may establish eligibility in one of two ways:

      Reside in the Oroville Planning Area, as described in the City's adopted
         General Plan. The Planning Area extends north to Cottonwood Road,
         south to approximately 4 miles south of Georgia Pacific Road, east to
         Miner's Ranch Road, and west to Highway 99.

      Own or operate a business within the Historical Preservation District


Meeting Schedule
      Historical Advisory Board Planning Commission meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 1735 Montgomery Street, Oroville CA.

Agendas
      Agendas are posted on the City Hall bulletin board at least 72 hours in advance of each meeting. The Commission may not take action on any item not appearing on the posted agenda without making special findings.
