Overview
The City maintains a computer mapping system called GIS, Geographic Information Systems. Simply put, a GIS combines layers of both graphic data and informational text, otherwise known as attribute data that can be viewed either 2 or 3-dimensionally on a map.

The City is collecting and building layers of information to enhance its ability to manage its infrastructure. The maps are also invaluable planning tools, and are used by engineers and planners alike to conceptually lay out future subdivisions, sewer line and storm drain extensions, and land use designations. As new maps are completed they will be displayed on this web site. Custom large scale maps can be generated for a small fee. Electronic files are not sold or distributed. The City uses a program called ESRI. For a full demonstration on GIS, please visit their website at:http://www.gis.com/site/index.html.
