Feather River Boulevard Revitalization Project will be a focused event to infuse activities along Feather River Boulevard from Oro Dam Boulevard to just north of Montgomery Street to incorporate Oroville’s Gateway project. The Gateway project is the center piece and entrance into the Downtown Historic area of the City. The proposed revitalization project should allow for commercial development to help stimulate economic growth for the City.
As part of the City’s overall goal of Downtown revitalization and redevelopment projects, an EPA Brownfield Assessment grant program in the amount $400,000 has been awarded to Brown and Caldwell. The grant program is already underway and can be the foundation for the redevelopment of the Oroville Cultural and Entertainment Complex and Feather River Boulevard Revitalization Project. The Program will provide an assessment and potential clearance of properties within the project areas.
The State Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) announced funding availability through the 2010/11 funding cycle of the State CDBG Program. HCD began accepting applications as of May 25, 2011 continuing until June 16, 2011 or until all funds were awarded to eligible applicants. Applications will be reviewed and awarded on a first come, first served basis.
The purpose of the City's applications was to acquire a portion of the funds necessary for Economic Development Projects and general administration activities as follows:
Economic Development P/TA Project focus – Funding will be used for the preliminary design work associated with the Feather River Boulevard Revitalization Project.
