Butte Interagency Narcatics Task Force Butte Interagency Narcatics Task Force

The Butte Interagency Narcotics Task Force (BINTF) was formed in October 1985 in response to the growing drug problem in Butte County. At that time, participating agencies formed the BINTF Advisory Council and outlined the goals and objectives of the task force as follows:

Initiate Investigations involving all levels of         drug dealers with overall objectives of
        identifying and apprehending major
        traffickers.
Initiate Investigations involving all levels of drug dealers with overall objectives of identifying and apprehending major traffickers.
Assist police agencies on specific drug problems.
Share information with other law enforcement agencies.
Provide training to law enforcement personnel.
      Conduct public presentations.
Provide both a monthly summary report and an annual report to the Advisory Council and the Department of Justice.
Conduct limited criminal investigations outside of narcotics upon request.
Conduct annual assessment of the unit's management system.

      Make periodic assessment of policies

These nine points are evaluated by the Advisory Council each year.

Butte Interagency Narcatics Task Force      The Oroville Police Department and the Butte Interagency Narcotics Task Force have and continue to work hand in hand. On July 1, 2002, BINTF absorbed the Butte Anti-Drug Special Surveillance (B.A.S.S.) unit. This merger effectively doubled the task force's personnel, allowing for an additional Task Force office in Chico. With this merger, BINTF is able to more effectively target drug violators in Butte County by focusing personnel and resources within the problem areas.

During the 2004 year the Butte Interagency Narcotics Task Force was involved in several operations affecting and influencing the citizens of the Oroville community.
