City of Oroville Recruiting for Citizens Oversight Committee Members and Southside Oroville Community Center Advisory Committee Member

CITY OF OROVILLE RECRUITING FOR CITIZENS OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE AND SOUTHSIDE OROVILLE COMMUNITY CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBERS

CITIZENS OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE

The Committee shall act in advisory capacity to the City Council. To carryout its stated purpose the Committee shall perform the following duties:

  • Review schedules and lists of proposed projects and programs to be funded with Measure U revenues, prioritize projects and programs, make recommendations to City Council.
  • Periodically (at least quarterly) review revenue, expenditure and other related reports and information produced by staff regarding Measure U; and provide recommendation to City Council on whether revenues were collected and expended as approved in an effective and efficient manner.

  • Review annual independent accountant’s audit report on Measure U revenues and expenditures and provide appropriate recommendations to the City Council.

  • In order to preserve the integrity and independence of the oversight process, Committee members shall not play a role in contracting or project management for projects funded through revenue from Measure U.

The committee is comprised of (9) Citizens whom reside in or own a business in the City of Oroville and (2) Council Members. Citizens serve for (4) year terms. Of the members first appointed (5) shall serve for (4) years and (4) shall serve for two years. No member may serve more than (8) years consecutively. The group meets at least quarterly. 

Selection is through an ad-hoc committee made up of three council members whom made recommendations to the full council for final approval.

Volunteer Applications must be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office by 4:30 p.m. on March 25, 2019.


SOUTHSIDE OROVILLE COMMUNITY CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The duty of the Southside Oroville Community Center Advisory Committee is to review and make recommendations to the Facility Manager on issues relative to the uses and services offered at the Center as well as processes for obtaining community input regarding the types of services that should be provided.

The Committee consists of nine members, three representing the City of Oroville and shall be appointed by the City Council to serve a 4 year term. The group meets quarterly. The following criteria are requirements for appointing the volunteer positions:

  • One member of the private sector from within the City of Oroville’s city limits
  • One member of the Oroville Southside Community
  • One member representing a community based organization or district

Volunteer Applications must be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office by 4:30 p.m. on March 18, 2019.
