CITY HALL TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATIONS ON FRIDAYS STARTING MARCH 8, 2019
OROVILLE, CA - February 28, 2019 - The City of Oroville will resume normal operations on Fridays starting March 8, 2019. Citizens may come in for regular services from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Due to financial constraints and city staff furloughs City Hall reduced its services to Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM since last May. The closure along with the staff furloughs allowed the city to save money temporarily but reduced access to public services. The savings along with recent council action has allowed the city to resume normal operations on Fridays.
Secondly, the City of Oroville would like to thank the amazing citizens of Oroville for the support that has been shown by the passage of Measure U. The tax is slated to go in to affect April 1st with the city beginning to see the revenue as early as July. In preparation for the new tax the City Council will establish the Citizens Oversight Committee and is currently accepting applications to fill nine (9) seats on the committee. To be eligible for the committee you must reside in the city limits or own a business within the city limits. To apply, you may download the application from the website here or you may stop by city hall and pick an application up from the City Clerk. Applications are being accepted through March 22, 2019. Because of the passage of Measure U the City will be able to look at ways to create a safer community, update and maintain infrastructure, and improve city services. Thank you for your support in the City Council, Staff, and Oversight Committee by the passage of Measure U.
