Fascinating Madame Alexander Dolls

at the Historic Lott Home in Oroville

Mary Queen of Scots

A fascinating collection of Madame Alexander Dolls welcomes the re-opening of the Historic C.F. Lott Home which had been closed for several weeks for cleaning.

Madame Alexander is a brand of American collectible dolls that were introduced in 1923. The doll line was the creation of Beatrice Alexander who as a young girl grew up surrounded by dolls as she lived above her father’s doll hospital, the first ever in the United States. She began making dolls during World War I to help support her father’s business.

The dolls currently at the C.F. Lott Home include Mary Queen of Scots, Sara Bernhardt & Scarlett O’Hara as well as a collection of holiday dolls featuring Ms. Fezziwig from a Christmas Carol. The collection will be on display thru the end of the year.

The C.F. Lott Home in Sank Park is located at 1067 Montgomery Street, Oroville. The home features two full floors of tastefully displayed period furnishings, a carriage house, caretaker’s cottage, picturesque gazebo, and a full city block of manicured gardens. The home is open for tour on Friday and Sunday from 11:30 A.M. until 4:00 P.M.

The gazebo and pavilion including a full commercial kitchen is available for rental for special events. Additional information about the display or any of Oroville’s fine museums may be obtained by visiting the city website at or by calling the City of Oroville at (530) 538-2401.
