CITY OF OROVILLE

MUSEUM DOCENT RECRUITMENT DAY

OROVILLE, CA.  SEPTEMBER 6, 2017 –

The City of Oroville Docents are hosting a special recruitment day program on, Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 12:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the historic Chinese Temple & Museum Complex located at 1500 Broderick Street, Oroville.  A special presentation about each of the City’s five museums will occur at 1:00 P.M.

The docent program which began over twenty-eight years ago, is comprised of volunteers who are asked to give four hours of service twice per month. Currently thirty-eight active participants have many responsibilities including maintaining the unique quality of Oroville’s museums.

The docents act as tour guides and interact with visitors to ensure that they have a memorable experience.  They also staff the gift shops, update records, and assist with special projects including cataloging, restoring, and preserving artifacts.  The program provides a great opportunity to meet people, learn something new and to give back to your community.  Docents do not have to reside within the city limits.

Questions regarding the Docent program, or the recruitment day, may be directed to Dawn Nevers, Associate Planner, City of Oroville (530) 538-2429.  Information about each of the five museums can be found on the City of Oroville website at www.cityoforoville.org.
